Ended up at Jish’s blog and he had an interesting entry on NetFlix and it inspired me to go figure out what I paid per movie since I’ve been a member. Here’s the comment I addd at his blog:
I’ve had two accounts with NetFlix. I quit the first time about 2 years ago because turn around was over a week and that meant I could use a video store for less. Then they opened a distribution center in Houston and turn around became 2 days. So I joined back up 13 months ago on the basic plan ($19.95/mo) for a total cost of $259.35.
I’ve rented 122 movies in that 13 months. So its $2.12 a movie. Not bad, especially when you consider many of those were new releases that would have cost more.
My renting goes in spurts, and sometimes I get a DVD I don’t even watch. Like I got Joe Somebody a week ago and put it in my multiple DVD player and then didn’t watch it. Last night I took it out after watching Catch Me If You Can and am sending them both back today.
I also got back into watching Babylon 5:Season 2, since Season 3 just came out and I can’t justify buying 3 if I haven’t even watched 2 all the way through.
