Dreamhost Still Rocks

on

Haven’t sung the praises of my web host Dreamhost in a while. They have a referral program that I’m part of. I’ve had a few people sign up for Dreamhost via my link and have gotten some payments.

As a result, I haven’t made a payment for webhosting in over a year.

I realized it had been a while since an auto payment had come out of my account, but doing a little searching I realized it was 5-2005 when I last made a credit card payment.

Dreamhost rocks because they have cheap plans. I’m on the Code Monster $19.95 paid monthly. Since I’ve been with them for years, and they increase my disk space by 2048 MB / week and bandwidth by Grows 32 GB / week, I have 440 GB of disk space and 5216 GB of bandwidth a month. Obviously I don’t use that much, but it is cool they give it to me.

They have pretty good uptime. They have gone down. They went down when LA had a power outage about a year ago. Do you remember the combined screams of millions of teenagers one weekend when myspace went down? Turns out Dreamhost’s computers are in the same data center as myspace. So they went down then too. Since then they’ve started moving stuff to a new data center, so they should be more stable.

So anyway, just wanted to say Dreamhost is way cool. And thank you to any who’ve click on my Dreamhost link and signed up. You’ve kept me blogging, and my other sites up.

Gah. Die! No one ever follows through on my Dreamhost links… Maybe I should do another praising post as well… 😛

… I did not link that! Way to play dirty, Ron… 😉

I’ve got this plugin that you can put a word and a URL in. Then whenever that word is used in a post the plugin makes it into a link.

Didn’t realize it worked on comments too. 🙂

Actually about 1/2 my referrals have been people I know in the real world. I really don’t know who the other people are. You get their username, but no way to map that to their website.
