Abandoned Warehouse, Goth Model and Golden Hour

On Friday one of my favorite models Shelli posted on her blog that she was bored and had nothing planned for the weekend. I shot her an email on Saturday morning asking if she was up for a short notice photoshoot. She was.

We’d shot in my studio a couple of times before, but I really wanted to do something different this time. And I wanted to get outside. I wanted something gritty. Something dirty, urban, industrial. Something more Goth.

We had talked about shooting her in this outfit the last two times we’d shot, but hadn’t gotten around to it. I thought the look would be perfect for an industrial setting. I live out in suburbia, and the livable forest just doesn’t have a lot of urban scenery.

Luckily Shelli lives downtown and suggested we meet and just go to the warehouse district of Houston. My wife is my assistant on all my shoots, and we met Shelli and her friend Kelly and went scouting. Driving around we found this building being remodeled or torn down, couldn’t tell which. But it had one “room” with no roof and graffiti on all the walls. Then there was the other area with cool columns and this industrial scale.

These are just the first pictures I had time to do post production on. Click on the thumbs to see bigger versions. More will be on my photography site Reactuate Photography later.
