Favorite Underrated movies

on

I was reading fark and followed a link to some guys list of favorite underratted movies. Here’s mine, which include some of my favorite movies period.

Grosse Point Blank

Probably my favorite movie. I think I’ll watch it again tonight. I call it my “There but by the grace of God go I”. I totally identify with John Cusack’s hit man character. And the juxtaposition of returning to his high school reunion makes it all the more interesting.

Real Genius

Geeks rule. Val Limer in a great comic role. Great lines:”I’m contemplating the immortal words of Socrates. I drank what?”, “Its a moral imperative.” This is also where I learned to hang my sunglasses off the back of my collar. And a friend of the sister of a friend of mine is in the movie, with only one line “Can you hammer a six-inch spike through a board with your penis?””Not right now.””A girl’s gotta have her standards.”

Galaxy Quest

If you are any kind of trekie this is hilarious and, sadly, a fantasy.

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure

I really thought this movie was funny. Keanu Reeves…

The next two are sleeper Sci-Fi movies. Ones that deal with technology changing people in our world.

Dreamscape

Dying in a dream is really dying. And we figure out how to get people into other people’s dreams. So of course a psychopath ends up in the president’s. Loved the idea you could be a 50 lb weakling and all those hours of day dreaming could become real. Great lines: “So what you do here is count boners.”

Brainstorm

Recording memories for others to experience. Natilie Wood’s last movie, and it deals with death. Also loved how the main character uses the device to really communicate to his ex-wife how he loves her.

Office Space

How could I have forgotten this one? Especially since the DVD was sitting on the table in front of me because I took it to work this week.
