An interesting article about a patent that will put 72 PowerPC processors on a single chip. Allowing this computer to do 1000 times more things at once than a single processor.
Is this new tech from Apple? No its from Sony and they want to use it in the new PS 3. Of course their partners are IBM and Toshiba. Given Apple’s relation ship with IBM this might mean we could see it in Macs in the future.
One of the technical hurtles they have to deal with is creating software (read OS) to coordinate the multiple processors and multiple tasks. Seems there is already an OS that handles multiple processors, has advanced graphics and has been written and optimized for the PowerPC chip.
