Economic beliefs

on

I was reading this blog entry and wanted to comment. After I wrote a few hundred words I decided it should be a post on my own blog.

I was looking at this article, I found my self wondering if all of this was really purely economic. Seems some culture groups, like immigrant Asians, are poor, but still value education. And some people choose to be poor for a middle class reason – like getting out of debt or choosing to have only one parent working – and still have the “middle class” beliefs.

Also doesn’t it seem middle class “Tolerance for non-conformity” only goes so far? What about people who don’t have these beliefs? Aren’t they at the least considered losers, and at the most a blight on society?
